Wine Description
“Bright violet. Juicy, high-pitched aromas of redcurrant, cassis, cocoa powder and sweet underbrush. Quite round, even lush, on the palate, but the red and dark fruit flavors convey impressive structure and focus thanks to suave tannins and subtle acidity. With air, this developed a sweet cherry flavor, with hints of smoky herbs and cured meat. Nicely focused, energetic and long, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins.""~ Josh Reynolds, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
“The 2002
Cabernet Sauvignon The Menzies reveals a dusty, terroir, earthiness along with sweet, leafy, black currant fruit, licorice, and tobacco notes. This medium-bodied, spicy, ripe, ruggedly constructed Cabernet has some rustic tannin to be resolved. It should evolve for 10-12 years." ~
The Wine Advocate"
Deep crimson red. The aroma is a meld of briar, red currant and black olive flavours through to black cherry and plum skins. The palate opens with the sweet berry richness of red currants and dark chocolates, merging into a full bodied wine with a nice fleshy extract. Good density and lashings of soft tannins building towards the finish.
