Wine Description
Travaglini Gattinara is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, grown on the family estate. Nebbiolo grapes have been grown in the Piedmont region for centuries. This varietal takes its name from the morning fog, "nebbia" which fills the valleys of the area during harvest. Nebbiolo , the outstanding red wine grape of Italy, is deep in color, robust and full-bodied, with rich, deep, complex flavors.
1998 was an excellent year in Italy, and this wine displays the perfect growing conditions. The fruit is filled with violets, vanilla, mocha, and berry flavors. Travaglini fashioned their Gattinara with a perfect balance of fruit and tannin, highlighting the classic flavors of the Nebbiolo grape.
