Wine Description

Made from 80% Prugnolo (Sangiovese) and 20% Aglianico. The wine was aged in large oak barrels for 2-3 years. The wine displays an intense ruby-red color with violet reflections. The scent of plums comes through on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety with a perfect balance between the flavors of plum and woodland berries. Hints of licorice are evident in the persistent finish.

Customer Comments & Criticisms
Purchased this on the RP recommendation and had to re read the review after drinking it to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. This is a very dense, backward wine that is said to be "a joy" to drink now though shows no sign of that whatsoever. When I looked again at the review, I noted the qualifier "not especially vibrant". This is the salient characteristic of the wine. Suggest you leave this one for the initiated.
